A clean, unaged white rum distilled in Taranaki, crafted from Bundaberg molasses and five-times filtered New Zealand rainwater, offering a fresh, versatile spirit.
LWF Distilling’s White Rum is the inaugural release from this Ōakura-based distillery. Fermented using Bundaberg molasses and specialty yeast, combined with five-times filtered New Zealand rainwater, the wash undergoes pot distillation followed by rectification through a column still. The resulting spirit, distilled to 94–98% ABV, is rested before being diluted to 40% ABV for bottling.
This unaged rum presents a clean profile with subtle 'rum funk', making it suitable for classic cocktails. Tasting notes include toffee, grapefruit peel, dill, wasabi, coconut, rose, and peach tea on the nose, with black coffee, guava juice, grapefruit oils, stone fruits, toffee, and cardamom on the palate, culminating in a medium finish with ground coffee notes.
