Seris 2 is a lightly peated New Zealand single malt finished in Australian PX sherry casks, offering rich, glazed orange and savoury spice notes.
Named after the Arabic term for Jerez (the traditional birthplace of sherry), Seris 2 begins life as lightly peated NZ malt, double distilled in copper pot stills. Its initial maturation takes place in American oak wine barrels that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred (STR), which adds vibrant floral aromatics that leap from the glass. It is then finished in PX Apera (Australian Pedro Ximenez) sherry casks, enriching the spirit with glazed orange peel, citrus, spiced apple and sandalwood undertones. The palate is rich and mouth-coating, filled with butterscotch, raisins, fruitcake and cereal grains, rounded out by a touch of peat and a savoury spice finish. Distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2023 at 42% ABV, Seris 2 is non-chill filtered with no added colour, and a Silver medal winner at the NZ Spirits Awards.
