The NZ Rum Co, located in Hillcrest, Auckland, is a pioneering craft distillery dedicated to producing premium small-batch spirits. Founded by Rob O'Connell, a former superyacht skipper with a passion for rum, the distillery focuses on innovation and quality.
Departing from traditional molasses-based methods, The NZ Rum Co utilizes sugarcane jaggery to create a cleaner, fresher rum profile. Their 500-litre copper pot and column still, equipped with an infusion basket, allows for versatile distillation and experimentation with various botanicals and yeast strains.
The distillery's offerings include the flagship McJaggery White Rum, known for its tropical and citrus notes, as well as unique expressions like the Triple Berry and Spiced Rums. Visitors can experience the distillation process firsthand through guided tours and tastings, gaining insight into the art and science behind each bottle.
