Solera Aged Rum

A solera-aged rum powered by a fractional blending process in American and French oak wine barrels, showcasing rich complexity and balance.

Solera Aged Rum by Last Light Rum is a signature expression of fractional blending, crafted in their Te Atatū Peninsula shed. Bottled at 45.5% ABV and sold in 700 ml bottles, it matures through a solera system using American and French oak barrels previously used for New Zealand wines. The youngest rum is introduced to the top tier, while the oldest is drawn from the bottom for bottling, creating a dynamic and evolving reservoir of flavour. This solera process ensures each batch maintains layered depth, rich winemaking influences and structural harmony—all achieved without expert blenders, simply through balanced oak interaction and time.
